How to Cancel Duolingo Super

Duolingo's official policy is that all subscription purchases are non-refundable.

If you were charged through Apple or Google, you must request a refund through them, as Duolingo cannot refund app store purchases.
• Apple: Go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Google: Go to play.google.com/store/account → Order History → Request a refund.

After cancelling, you will retain your Super features (no ads, unlimited hearts, personalized practice) until the end of your current billing cycle.

Once the cycle ends, your account reverts to the free tier. Your learning progress, XP, streak, and unlocked courses are fully preserved — you will just have to deal with ads and heart limits again.

Babbel ($13.95/mo) offers a more traditional, conversational approach to language learning if you are tired of Duolingo's gamified style.

Rosetta Stone ($14.99/mo) uses immersive learning without translations. Memrise (free tier available) is excellent for vocabulary building using video clips of native speakers.

• Deleting the app does not cancel. Deleting the Duolingo app from your phone or deleting your Duolingo account will not stop your subscription. You must cancel through Apple Subscriptions, Google Play, or the Duolingo website.
• Cancel through the platform you used to buy. If you bought Super Duolingo on your iPhone, you cannot cancel it on the Duolingo website — you must use Apple Settings. Check all three platforms if you aren't sure.
• Family Plan. If you are the manager of a Super Family Plan, cancelling ends the premium benefits for all 5 other members when the billing cycle finishes.
• You can still use the free version. After cancelling, your account will revert to the free version of Duolingo. You will keep all your progress and streaks, but you will see ads and have limited "hearts."
