Open your web browser and navigate to https://spotify.com. Click the 'Log In' button in the top right corner and enter your account credentials.
Once logged in, click your Profile icon in the top right corner and select 'Account' from the dropdown menu to enter your account dashboard.
Locate the 'Your plan' section on the Account overview page.
Click the button labeled 'Change plan' or 'Manage your plan'.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the 'Spotify Free' section and click the 'Cancel Premium' button.
Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your cancellation. You will be asked to provide a reason for leaving; select one and click 'Continue'.
Click 'Cancel my subscription' on the final confirmation screen. You will receive an email confirmation once the process is complete.
You can only stop billing on the platform you originally paid on. If you subscribed inside an app, cancelling on the website won't stop the charge — and vice versa. Watch out for retention “dark patterns” too: keep going until you see a clear “Cancellation Confirmed” screen and a confirmation email.
Once you cancel, you will retain your Premium features until the end of your current billing cycle. After that date, your account will automatically downgrade to the free (ad-supported) version. Your playlists, saved songs, and profile data will remain intact on the free tier, so you do not need to worry about losing your library.

YouTube Music offers a robust library and often comes bundled with YouTube Premium, which removes ads from both platforms. Apple Music is a strong contender if you are already in the Apple ecosystem.
