Reminder Timing · Warn

A warning early enough
to do something about it.

Seven, fifteen or thirty days out — or your own number — by email, SMS or push, at the hour you choose in your own timezone. One default for everything, a rule for the big ones, and a different time for the one record that needs it.

A reminder on the day
is a receipt.

Most services need notice to cancel, and most people need a day or two to decide. A reminder that lands the morning of the charge tells you what already happened. The whole point of setting the lead yourself is that the reminder arrives while the decision is still yours.

01

Pick the lead. Per channel.

Seven days out for the monthly stuff, thirty for the yearly plans, or any number you like — and a different lead for each channel. An email a month ahead to plan around, a text three days before as the last call. The lead is how long you have to act, so it is the first thing you set.

  • 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 14 or 30 days as presets; anything from 1 to 30 as custom
  • Separate leads for email, SMS and push
  • More than one lead per channel if you want a first and a final warning

02

Pick the hour. In your timezone.

A reminder at 3am is a reminder you swipe away. Set the time of day each channel sends — 8am email with the coffee, 6pm text on the way home — in your own timezone, not the server's. Travel, and it stays your morning.

  • Hour and minute, per channel
  • Your timezone, saved with your settings
  • Change it once; every reminder moves
03

A different time for the one that matters.

The rent is not a streaming service. Any single record can carry its own reminder time, so the one bill that needs a morning warning gets one while everything else keeps the default. Change the record, not your whole schedule.

04

Rules for the big ones. Written once.

“Anything over $100: remind me thirty days out, at eight in the morning.” “Everything in Insurance: fifteen days.” A rule matches records by amount, category, merchant, account or cycle and sets their lead and time in one go — for the ones you have now and the ones that arrive later. Delete the rule and they fall back to your defaults.

  • Match on amount, category, name, merchant, account, cycle
  • Set lead days (1–90) and a time of day
  • Applies to future records too; reversible

Three channels, one message

Email

The full picture: name, amount, date, what else is due that week, and a link to the record. Verified by a one-time code, or use the address you signed up with.

SMS

One line, no app to open. Verified by code. The channel to give the shortest lead — the text that arrives three days out is the one that makes people cancel in time.

Push

On iPhone, iPad and Android. Tap it and you are on the record. Uses the system's default sound so it behaves like every other notification you have already tuned.
