A reminder on the day

Most services need notice to cancel, and most people need a day or two to decide. A reminder that lands the morning of the charge tells you what already happened. The whole point of setting the lead yourself is that the reminder arrives while the decision is still yours.

Choose how many days before a charge you hear about it — seven unless you change it. In-app notifications and texts each have their own advance notice, so the notification can come a week out and the text two days before, as the last call.

Pick the hour. In your time zone.
A reminder at 3am is a reminder you swipe away. Every channel has its own preferred time, to the minute, and it is sent in your time zone — not the server's. Change the zone on the same screen when you move, and every reminder follows.

Set a different time for the one that matters.
The rent is not a streaming service. Open any record and give it its own alert time — just that one; everything else keeps your usual hour. The Reminders line above it shows exactly what that record gets, and says so when a rule set it.

Rules for the big ones. Written once.
“Anything over $100: remind me 30 days before.” A rule matches records by name, merchant, amount, category, account, type, billing cycle or source, and changes how they are reminded — for the ones you have now and the ones that arrive later. Start from a preset or build your own; delete it and what it changed is put back.

Email is the overview, not a countdown.
The email channel sends a statement: everything due this month, totalled, with what needs attention at the top — weekly, every other week, on the 1st and the 16th, or monthly. It has no lead of its own; it is the whole picture, while notifications and texts are the heads-up.
