An AI app won't connect, or its tools stopped working
The common causes — a mistyped URL, an expired approval, a lapsed plan — and what fixes each one.
"Couldn't reach the server" or "failed to connect"
Check the URL is exactly https://api.renewreminder.com/mcp — with https, with /mcp on the end, and with no trailing slash. This is the cause nine times out of ten.
The approval page says the request has expired
Approvals are valid for ten minutes. Go back to the assistant and start the connection again — it will open a fresh page.
Every question answers "requires a Premium or Business plan"
The connection itself is fine. The plan on your account has lapsed or does not include AI apps. Upgrade and ask again — there is no need to reconnect.
The assistant says it lacks "write" access
That assistant asked for read-only access when it connected. Disconnect it, then connect again and allow both permissions.
It worked before and now gets "unauthorized"
Either the connection was disconnected from Settings → AI apps, or it sat unused for more than 90 days and expired. Connect again from the assistant.
I can't find Connectors in my assistant
Custom connectors are a feature of the assistant's own plan: Claude offers them on paid plans, and ChatGPT only in Developer mode on Pro, Team, Enterprise and Edu. Renew Reminder cannot turn that on for you.
