Email, text message, and in-app reminders
Three channels that behave differently — email is a digest on a schedule, text and in-app count down to each renewal.
Renew Reminder has three reminder channels, and the difference between them surprises people. Switch on whichever combination you want — each keeps its own settings.
| Channel | How it is scheduled |
|---|---|
| A digest on a fixed cadence: weekly (every Monday), bi-weekly (every other Monday), or monthly. It summarises what is coming up. | |
| Text message | Per renewal, counted backwards by your advance notice — e.g. 7 days before each charge. |
| In-app | Per renewal, same as text messages, delivered as a push notification to your device. |
This is the single most common misunderstanding: email does not fire a few days before each renewal. It arrives on its cadence — so if your only channel is a monthly email digest, a renewal three days after that digest gets no dedicated warning. If you want a per-renewal alert, switch on text messages or in-app reminders.
Each channel has its own preferred time
Email, text, and in-app each carry their own Preferred time, so you can have the digest land at 8am Monday and text reminders arrive at 6pm without them fighting each other. Times are interpreted in the time zone set on your reminder settings — check it if you have moved.
Destinations need verifying
The email address and phone number reminders go to are verified separately from your login email. An unverified destination will not receive anything — see Change where reminders are sent.
