I'm not getting reminders

Work through this in order — the cause is almost always one of the first three checks.

Run these in order. They are sorted by how often each one turns out to be the cause.

1. Is the destination verified?

Reminders are not sent to an unverified email address or phone number. Open your reminder settings and check for a Verify prompt next to either destination — if one is there, that is your answer. See Change where reminders are sent.

2. Are you expecting email to behave like a countdown?

Email is a digest on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly cadence. It does not fire a few days before each renewal. If you want a per-renewal alert, switch on text messages or in-app reminders — see Email, text message, and in-app reminders.

3. Is the channel actually switched on?

Each channel has its own toggle. Switching on email does not switch on text messages.

4. Check the renewal date and advance notice

  • If the renewal date is wrong, the reminder fires at the wrong time — see A renewal date looks wrong.
  • If advance notice is 1 day and the renewal is 3 days out, nothing has been sent yet. That is correct behaviour.
  • A rule or a per-subscription setting may be overriding your global default. The most specific setting wins.

5. Check spam, and check push permission

  • Email in spam is common enough to have its own article.
  • For in-app reminders, confirm notifications are allowed for Renew Reminder in your device settings, then re-open the app.

Still nothing after all five? Email support@renewreminder.com with the subscription name and the date you expected the reminder. We can look at what was sent.
